This service is designed for those building material manufacturers who wish to distinguish their product in the market by looking at the environmental impact of their products.
The international EPD® system aims to help and support organisations in communicating the environmental benefits of their products (goods and services) in a credible and understandable way.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that describes the environmental effects associated with the production of a specific quantity of a product: for example large amounts of power consumption and raw materials, the production of waste materials, emissions in the atmosphere and discharges into water bodies.
The declaration is provided by analysing an entire life cycle (ie - the raw to the final disposal) of a product; it should be drawn up in accordance with the guidelines of the ISO 14020 rules as well as the rules for the particular category of product (Product Category Rules).
The content of the declaration is verified and validated by an independent, third entity such as ICMQ, which can certify the company’s veracity.
The validated declaration is made public through a special website (www.environdec.com) that allows the end-user to compare the environmental characteristics of like or alternative products (for example you can compare the environmental performance of a tile in clay with that of one in concrete).

In Italy ICMQ is accredited by Accredia (No. 002 H registration) for the verification and validation of cement products (PCR 2004: 1) and (PCR 2005: 7) environmental product declarations.
