Confort Audit

Needs
International research studies demonstrate that productivity and health gains depend on the comfort of living space. Even small changes in productivity and health translate into large financial benefits for companies. Well designed and ergonomic buildings like BPOs, offices, hotels and hospitals allow occupants to improve their well being and owners to increase their buildings’ value in the eyes of buyers.
ICMQ India offers dedicated services aimed at measuring features that have a direct impact on the quality of living spaces. It also looks at granting voluntary certification attesting to a building’s comfort level.
ICMQ India may provide customers with thermal, acoustic and lighting ’comfort audits’.
Customers may use this voluntary certificate to receive third party recognition of their properties’ quality and comfort. ICMQ India’s architects and engineers have the expertise, experience and equipment to carry out effective measurements.

ICMQ India’s Approach

Thermal comfort audit
Human Thermal comfort is related to the thermal balance of the body as a whole and depends on factors like physical activity, clothing, temperature, mean radiant temperature, air velocity (chill factor) and relative humidity.
ICMQ offer solutions to measure indexes like:
  •  “Predicted Mean Vote  (PMV)”: thermal sensation of the body as a whole
  • “Predicted Percentage Dissatisfied (PPD)”: the percentage of people likely to feel too warm or too cool in a particular environment
  •  “Thermal Discomfort (TD)”: due to asymmetry in the radiant temperature, draught, vertical temperature differences in air and cold/warm floors.
These indexes allow designers to understand the percentage of dissatisfied occupants, to identify potential improvements and to increase a building's attractiveness.

Lighting comfort audit
’Luminous efficacy’ is a term for light sources. It is the ratio of luminous flux (in lumens) to power (in watts).
This index describes how well the source provides visible light from a given amount of electricity.
A good balance between lighting, energy, saving and comfort may increase the usability and attractiveness of a work-space.
Lighting comfort is particularly relevant for building like hospitals, hotels, shopping malls and offices.
ICMQ India conducts audits for measuring the comfort brought about by interior lighting systems.
This service aims at evaluating and reducing the risks eye-related-problems due to discomfort with a lighting system.

Acoustic comfort audit
Acoustic comfort is relevant in work environments (offices, industrial plants) or public spaces (hotels, hospitals) and may result in an increase in the well-being of occupants.
ICMQ India may provide inspection services aimed at measuring sound insulation. These include:

  • measuring outdoor sounds
  • measuring sound between rooms
  • measuring sound between floors
Measures can be carried out in qualified laboratories or in field.
ICMQ India awards certificates reporting the acoustic-comfort levels of a building.

Benefits
ICMQ India’s comfort audits allow building (offices, hotels, hospitals) owners to increase their properties' value by attracting customers through:
  • a sound balance between energy efficiency and thermal comfort
  • a comfortable workspace
  • improving the productivity in a work-space
  • improving the well-being of people in public spaces (Hospital, Hotels)
  • reducing the amount of pollutants
  • improving the health of buyers
